Research

My area of research interest has been Coeliac Disease. I have done research work on the various aspects of coeliac disease.  I disapproved the notion that coeliac disease does not exist in Asians. In my retrospective study I proved that South Asian are at a higher risk of having coeliac disease compared to Europeans. This has led to early and prompt diagnosis in South Asians and mostly Punjabis. In my comparative study I found that coeliac disease has obstetric and gynaecological problems; the main being infertility. I have published about 14 research papers on coeliac disease and other GI problems in world renowned journals. These papers can be referred to on Medline on my previous surname Sher et al.

I am also a short story writer. I have published many stories in many renowned  literary journals. My short stories were published in Amrita Pritam’s ‘Nagmani’. My well renowned short story Pandhravan Lal Cross was published in Nagmani Amrita Pritam. My short story book Pandhravan Lal Cross was published in 1992. This book was included in graduate course in Punjabi by Delhi University. One of the postgraduate students did her MPHILL on this book.  I continue to write short stories and my plan to publish another book soon.

I am also a poet and have written poetry in Punjabi and English. I have published two books in poetry. These are Hun Main Ajnabi Nanhi and Kaun Sutardhar. I am publishing a third book Bolde Parshave very soon. It will include all my Gazals I have written so far. These Gazals can be heard on Dr Karnail Singh Shergill account on YouTube and are sung by singer Raman Rahi.
